Poland above EU average in coverage and use of high-speed internet
Poland was above the EU average in the areas of the use of fixed broadband connections and the coverage of fixed networks with very high throughput in the EU DESI ranking – index of the digital economy and digital society for 2020.
DESI for 2020 was based on data for 2019. According to data published by the European Commission, in Poland the use of fixed broadband connections with a speed of at least 100 Mb/s covered 28 percent of households, with the EU average of 26 percent.
In turn, the coverage of fixed networks with very high data rates in Poland was 60 percent of households, with the EU average of 44 percent.
However, this is the end of good news. In total ranking Poland was rated 23rd out of 28 countries. This is a rise of two positions compared to last year's ranking. Poland received almost 45 points out of 100 in the ranking. The EU average is 52.6. The first Finland had an index of over 72, the last Bulgaria - less than 37.
