Poland pursues AI hub
The European Commission has launched a competition to build seven artificial intelligence gigafactories across the European Union, with Poland seeking to secure one of the strategically important facilities. The projects are designed to provide massive computing capacity for developing advanced AI models while strengthening Europe's technological independence from the United States and China. Winning a gigafactory would significantly expand Poland's digital infrastructure, attract high-value investment and support the country's rapidly growing artificial intelligence sector.
The initiative is part of the EU's broader industrial strategy to accelerate innovation and ensure European companies have access to world-class computing resources. Polish officials argue the country's expanding technology ecosystem, skilled workforce and growing investment in digital infrastructure make it a strong candidate to host one of the flagship AI centers.
