President and vice-presidents dismissed at Grupa Azoty
Supervisory board changes have swept through Grupa Azoty, as the board dismissed CEO Andrzej Skolmowski and two deputy CEOs ahead of an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting on a planned share issue. The Ministry of State Assets, the company’s dominant shareholder, justified the move by citing the group’s difficult financial situation and the need to accelerate restructuring and negotiations with creditors. A supervisory board member has been temporarily appointed to lead the company.
The ministry also announced plans to recapitalize the strategically important chemical group. Grupa Azoty faces heavy debt linked to its delayed and overbudget Polimery project in Police, whose costs rose to approximately PLN 7.5 billion. Talks continue over selling the project to Orlen or restructuring debt to stabilize the company’s finances.
