Report: 60% of Poland’s IT market value generated by foreign solutions
A report by #CyberMadeInPoland, Xopero Software, and industry experts says Poland’s IT sector is growing quickly but remains heavily dependent on foreign technology. Imported solutions account for 63% of the PLN 74 bln market, while foreign brands supply about 90% of hardware. The report estimates the annual digital deficit at more than PLN 60 bln.
Domestic products make up only about 0–1% of the portfolios of the 10 largest IT distributors, whose sales represent nearly 30% of Poland’s IT market. The report also says just eight of Poland’s 50 largest IT companies have domestic capital, and that public procurement often favors established foreign suppliers.
Its recommendations include reforming public procurement and creating incentives for Polish-owned technology. The authors argue that greater local control over technology, data, and infrastructure is important for economic competitiveness and national security.
