Report: only 31% of Polish companies invest in innovation
Polish companies prioritize market-share growth (40%) and cost cutting (36%) over innovation (31%), according to Ayming’s 2027 International Innovation Barometer. Forty percent lack an innovation strategy, versus 32% of firms in other surveyed countries, while 37% say unstable R&D budgets hinder innovation. Companies also face pressure to deliver quick results and rely more heavily on external financing. Grants are a major part of their plans: 93% say their innovation strategies include applying for them. Ayming argues that funding availability should shape how strategic projects are financed, not determine business priorities.
Polish firms can seek support through national programs such as Ścieżka SMART and STEP, as well as Horizon Europe and the EIC Accelerator. The survey included 200 Polish companies and 800 from other countries.
