Poland’s retail sector delivered a stronger-than-expected performance in June, reinforcing signs that domestic consumption remains a key driver of economic growth. According to the Central Statistical Office (GUS), retail sales rose 6.2% year-on-year in constant prices, comfortably exceeding economists’ forecasts of 5.1%, while monthly sales increased 1.4%.

Online retail also continued to expand, with internet sales climbing 12.3% from a year earlier and accounting for 9.1% of total retail turnover. Furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics recorded some of the strongest gains, reflecting improving household spending. Economists said the figures suggest resilient consumer demand despite external uncertainties, although weaker fuel sales indicate spending patterns remain uneven across different sectors of the economy.
