A special register created last year features almost three million entries about arrears on unpaid taxes, fines and administrative penalties, Rzeczpospolita daily has written. Typically, natural persons, sole proprietors and companies are entered into the register.
“At present, there are 2,895,079 items in the Register of Public Claims, which does not mean that there are so many debtors, because some entries may refer to the same people or companies,” Paweł Jurek, a spokesman for the Ministry of Finance, said. The number of entries may surprise because the register has been in operation since July 1, 2018.
