Sejm to vote again on law on crypto assets
Poland’s Sejm will vote at its September 2–4 session on whether to override President Karol Nawrocki’s veto of legislation regulating the crypto-assets market, Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty announced. Prime Minister Donald Tusk had requested the vote, arguing that recent developments involving cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto demonstrate the need for stronger market regulation. Nawrocki vetoed the legislation for the third time on June 11. If the Sejm overrides the veto and passes the law again, the president will be required to sign it.
Czarzasty said the legislation is intended to combat fraud and other abuses in the cryptocurrency market. Lawmakers will also vote on the president’s veto of legislation concerning the legal status of partners in relationships.
