Seven Eleven still looking to expand into Europe as deal with Żabka Group fails
Shares in Seven & i Holdings initially fell by as much as 2.3 percent in Tokyo after the company ended talks on a potential investment in Żabka Group. The owner of 7-Eleven said it could not reach an agreement that served the best interests of the company and its shareholders, although the stock later recovered most of its losses.
Seven & i is still seeking growth outside Japan, where expansion opportunities are limited. It plans to increase its presence from 19 to 30 countries and regions by 2030, with Europe viewed as a key market alongside the United States and Australia. The company also raised its full-year operating profit forecast by about 5 percent to JPY 425 bln, or USD 2.6 bln.
