Share of domestic investors on the WSE is growing

In the first half of 2021, domestic individual investors generated 24 percent of turnover on the WSE Main Market (+2 pp. y/y) – this is a record share for the first half of the year in the last decade. Foreign investors were responsible for 55 percent of turnover (minus 3 pp. y/y), and institutional – for 21 percent (+1 pp. y/y).
Individual investors are still in the lead on the NewConnect market, with a turnover share of 88 percent (minus 5 pp. y/y). The share of institutional investors increased to 6 percent (+1 pp. y/y). The share of foreign investors also amounted to 6 percent and increased by 4 pp. y/y.
In the futures market in the first half of 2021, the share of individual investors decreased by 8 pp. y/y to 34 percent of turnover, and institutional fell by 1 pp. and amounted to 37 percent. The share of foreign investors increased by 9 pp. y/y to 29 percent. It was historically the highest share, both in the first half of the year and in the entire year, in the last 10 years.
