Shopping malls are becoming more than just shopping destinations
Ingka Centres is transforming shopping malls into destinations for socializing, dining, entertainment, and relaxation. Its largest project is the modernization of Port Łódź, covering nearly 10,000 square meters. Plans include a 7,000-square-meter patio, a summer cinema, a splash pad, a winter garden, and an expanded food court with six new concepts. The company says dining is now one of the two main reasons customers choose a shopping center.
It is also investing in low-emission heating and cooling, reusable materials, green spaces, and energy efficiency. The redevelopment is intended to attract more visitors, extend their stays, lower operating costs, and support Ingka Group’s climate goals.
