Tauron Distribution not sourcing solely from Poland for tenders
Tauron Dystrybucja is upgrading the power grid in Małopolska to improve reliability in mountainous areas prone to outages. A key project, the Chomranice–Rożnów line, drew attention after the company allowed contractors to source materials from any country, not just Poland or the EU. Because the tender was conducted outside public procurement rules and funded under recovery programs, Tauron said it could not restrict supply origins. This has sparked criticism, as policymakers often promote local content.
Experts argue that without clear, consistent rules, support for domestic industry remains weak. They warn that stronger guidelines are needed to protect European supply chains and counter deindustrialization trends across the EU.
