Tax office takes control of company without informing them
The Lubuskie Customs and Tax Office in Gorzów Wielkopolski blocked the bank accounts of temporary employment agency GP Production and began inspecting its contractors while searching for alleged VAT fraud. One contractor was subjected to a tax audit without being properly notified, leaving the company unable to access files or defend itself.
The case began in 2022, when tax authorities froze about PLN 19 mln in GP Production’s accounts, later reduced to about PLN 10 mln. The company collapsed, costing around 1,500 jobs. A higher tax authority in Zielona Góra has now sharply criticized the Gorzów office, saying it used the wrong address, ignored evidence, relied on unreliable witnesses, and denied the contractor the right to defense. The audit was declared invalid and must be repeated legally.
GP Production is also suing the state for about PLN 14 mln in damages over what it says was an unlawful VAT sanction and account freeze.
