Tax on fuel as part of CPN package set to be suspended
Poland is temporarily cutting VAT on gasoline and diesel to 8% from August 17 to 31 under the revived Ceny Paliwa Niżej fuel-price package. Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka said supplies will remain secure and there are no plans to release strategic reserves. Maximum prices from Monday are set at PLN 6.41 per liter for 95-octane gasoline, PLN 7.20 for 98-octane and PLN 7.37 for diesel. The government is also monitoring possible fuel tourism as Polish prices become among the lowest in Europe.
Motyka said any extension of the program will depend on global markets, the state budget and developments in the Middle East, making a decision impossible at present.
