The installation of the ETFE superfoil roof over the Lazarski Market Square in Poznań has been completed

Skanska has built a round, unique roof made of innovative ETFE foil over the future market on the Łazarski Market Square, in which one of the world’s largest single-chamber cushions has been installed. The works have been commissioned by the Poznań City Hall and the value of the entire investment amounts to nearly PLN 43 million.
The roof over the Lazarski Market Square consists of two single-chamber pillows. The large one has an area of over 1.7 thousand square meters, and the small one is less than 500 square meters. The larger one is one of the largest ETFE superfoil pillows of its kind in the world. Both rise on 26 steel poles and three steel rings, are connected to each other as one unit, and are supplied with air by three blowers.
Once the roof assembly work was completed, work began on the Lazarski Square itself. Due to safety reasons of working at heights, no other works could take place underneath the roof at the same time.
Skanska will now finish the surface of the rest of the market, including under the roof, as well as the equipment for the future market - market tables, lighting, small architecture, and will plant trees and shrubs. The quality of technical infrastructure will be improved, new, wider sidewalks will be built, and the space will enable the organization of outdoor events. There will also be a green square and an area for café gardens, a fountain and a place for recreation. The works will be completed in autumn 2021.
