In July road-builders will open three sections of the S61 expressway leading towards the Baltic countries. For the completion of the entire artery in Poland, however, we have to wait until 2024.
Today or tomorrow drivers will start using the 17-kilometer section of Via Baltica between Śniadow and Łomża. The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways announces that by the end of July, two more sections of the arterial road will be opened - from Kolno, north of Lomza, to Stawiska and from Stawiska to Szczuczyn.
Thus, drivers will have 51 km of the S61 expressway in total this month. This also means that the Via Baltica route towards Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia is slowly becoming a reality. This will be the main road leading to the Baltic countries, which will largely facilitate the passage of hundreds of trucks. It will also shorten the transit to the northern part of Podlasie.
