Tire sales increased across all categories in Q2 2021

Tire sales in Poland in the second quarter of 2021 increased year-on-year as follows in individual segments: passenger car tires +74%, SUV +103%, truck +32%, vans +135%, agricultural +115%, industrial +57%, according to data from the Polish Tyre Industry Association (PZPO).
In the whole first half of 2021, sales increased: in the segment of passenger tires by +34%, SUV +56%, truck +34%, delivery +53%, motorcycle +14%, agricultural +55%, industrial +17%. Growth in the premium tire class was as high as +46%, and their market share increased by 2 percentage points to 33%.
“We are seeing very strong increases in tire sales in all segments. This looks like a strong trend and a rebound after last year’s pandemic slump. We even have triple-digit year-on-year growth in the second quarter, and double-digit growth compared to 2019 - the pre-pandemic figures. In total, clear double-digit increases in the first half of the year are recorded by all tire segments.” said PZPO president Maciej Winiarz commented, in a recent announcement.
“It is important that drivers, despite the pandemic, have not forgotten how important tires are in terms of road safety. They are investing more and more consciously and effectively in their tires, which is proved by the systematically growing share of premium tires that has already reached 33% and overtaken tires from the middle segment. In most segments, increases have also surpassed those of 2019,” added CEO Piotr Sarnecki.
