Trans Polonia wants to take over Western European ports
Trans Polonia CEO Dariusz Cegielski announced plans for further acquisitions, mainly around Western European ports, particularly the Amsterdam Rotterdam Antwerp area. The Polish transport company recently acquired Dutch logistics group Nijman/Zeetank, gaining access to intermodal bases near Rotterdam, services for glass plants in Liverpool and Sandomierz, and a fleet of specialized tank containers and glass transport units.
Cegielski said the company is integrating the acquisition and negotiating additional deals, focusing on family owned transport firms facing succession issues. Financing will likely come from banks and investment funds rather than new share issuance. Despite geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and rising fuel prices, he expects strong demand for transport services in Europe. He also sees growing importance of rail transport and may expand into maritime shipping after two or three more European acquisitions.
