Twelve regions in Poland leading European growth
Poland accounted for 12 of the EU’s 30 fastest-growing regions in 2019–2024, representing 40% of the ranking despite having just 7.1% of the bloc’s 242 regions. These 12 regions comprised 70.6% of Poland’s 17 regions. Pomorskie led nationally with cumulative real GDP growth of 17.7%, followed by metropolitan Warsaw at 15.9%, the surrounding Mazowieckie region at 14.9%, Małopolskie at 14.7% and Podlaskie at 14.5%. All Polish regions outperformed the average elsewhere in the EU.
Including Poland raised average regional growth from 4.6% to 5.3%. Łódzkie grew 9.2%, while Łódź’s shift from textiles toward logistics, warehousing and business services illustrates broader economic diversification.
