This could be a record-breaking holiday season, despite ongoing restrictions. Already, travel bookings are comparable to 2019, which was an absolute record year for tourism. Although abroad is still more popular, the demand for vacations at home is already higher than 2 years ago.

The number of holiday bookings made from mid-May to mid-June is comparable to the same period of the record-breaking year 2019 for tourism, writes “Rzeczpospolita”. Foreign trips are increasingly popular; the demand for vacations in the country is greater than 2 years ago, it added.

In travel agencies, interest in vacations is growing exponentially. Comparing the first half of June 2021, to the same two weeks of 2019, you can see that the level of reservations is higher by as much as 32 percent.

This is already a real explosion of interest - said “Rzeczpospolita” the vice president of the travel agency Itaka Piotr Henicz. As he added, even at the beginning of the year, offices practically did not sell holiday trips. The movement began at the end of May.

Traditionally, Poles prefer sea and mountains: Sopot, Kołobrzeg, Białka Tatrzańska or Karpacz. Among foreign destinations, Turkey dominates, followed by Greece, Egypt, and Bulgaria. The popularity of Albania is growing rapidly, and continental Spain is selling less well.

In Poland, it is more expensive than a year and two years ago, and abroad it is cheaper. For now, because although sales are higher, the offer for the whole year is no more than 60-70 percent of what it was two years ago.
