Wages increased 5.6% y/y, employment fell 0.8% y/y in August
Average gross monthly wages in Poland’s enterprise sector rose 5.6% y/y to PLN 9,259.54 in August 2026, according to Statistics Poland (GUS). Wage growth fell short of market expectations of 6.6%, while salaries declined 2.6% from July in nominal terms. Average employment decreased 0.8% y/y to 6.4 mln full-time equivalent positions, matching analysts’ forecasts. Employment also fell 0.2% month over month. The figures cover businesses employing more than nine people.
Overall, the data showed weaker-than-expected annual wage growth alongside a continued decline in employment, with both measures falling compared with the previous month.
