Wages increased by 5.8% y/y, employment fell by 0.9% y/y in May
The average wage in the enterprise sector, covering companies with more than nine employees, rose by 5.8% y/y in May to PLN 9,173.24, while employment in enterprises fell by 0.9% y/y to 6.4 mln full-time positions, Statistics Poland (GUS) reported.
“In May 2026, average employment in the enterprise sector was 0.1% lower than in April 2026 and 0.9% lower than in May 2025. The average gross monthly wage in the enterprise sector in May 2026 was 3.8% lower than in April 2026, while compared with May 2025 it increased nominally by 5.8%,” the statement said.
The market consensus had expected wage growth of 6% y/y and an employment decline of 0.9% y/y.
