There is an agreement in the Warsaw-Berlin-Budapest triangle regarding budgetary negotiations in the EU, I believe that this agreement will cover the other 24 capitals of Europe, said Deputy Prime Minister, leader of the Alliance, Jarosław Gowin.
The next round of budget negotiations will take place during the European Council summit on Thursday and Friday. EU leaders will try to resolve the current situation in which Poland and Hungary announce vetoing the draft EU multiannual financial framework for 2021-2027, in connection with the regulation linking access to EU funds with the rule of law.
On Tuesday in Warsaw, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki had a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, which was also attended by Jarosław Kaczyński, deputy prime minister, president of PiS. The leader of Solidarna Polska, Zbigniew Ziobro, and the head of the Alliance, Jarosław Gowin, also joined the talks.
On Wednesday, at a conference in the Sejm, Gowin said that his party rejects the "veto or death" alternative and that it is possible to achieve solutions that will guarantee Poland's sovereignty and a common Europe.
Gowin emphasized that in the opinion of the Alliance, the veto is "the last resort". He also recalled the statement of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Tuesday that the member states are "a centimeter" away from reaching a compromise.
