The Warsaw City Hall has called on the Minister of Finance to take measures that will secure local government budgets against the “huge financial deficit.” According to the city's calculations, due to factors such as changes in tax law, the local governments of the Warsaw agglomeration may lose PLN 1.3 billion annually.
“The Polish government is starting to finance its promises with local government money, with the negative consequences of the changes including less investment in public transport and road infrastructure as well as inferior education, social assistance, health care and other services resulting from municipal tasks,” Warsaw’s vice president Michał Olszewski argued.
