Zalando trims logistics
Zalando will shut down its major logistics hub in Erfurt, Germany, and wind down operations at three other fulfillment sites run for Zalando and About You by external service providers. The move follows last year’s €1.13 billion acquisition of the About You platform and a broad restructuring of the combined logistics network.
The Erfurt closure, planned for September 2026, affects roughly 2,700 employees. Zalando said it had “carefully reviewed” its pan-European capacity needs and called the decision “difficult but necessary” to match demand and “future-proof” operations. Management pledged open talks with staff and the works council, and said a social plan and support measures would be negotiated to ease the transition.
The company argues the consolidation will boost efficiency as integration progresses. After the changes, Zalando’s network will comprise 14 fulfillment centers in seven countries. The group maintains medium-term targets of 5–10% CAGR for both GMV and revenue, supported by continued investment in automation and sustainability.
