1000 years old foundations of church discovered in Poznań

"The workers stumbled upon the foundations of the Church of St. Stanislaus. The Church, which was built before the collegiate church of St. Mary Magdalene, so this is the beginning of the previous millennium," Mariusz Wiśniewski, deputy mayor of Poznań, said in an interview with WTK Television.Fragments of the church that have just been found are about 1000 years old.
This is an unusual find, which unfortunately can complicate the works related to the revitalization of Kolegiacki Square. It is primarily a building that is to be located under the paving of the square, which will contain all the equipment operating on the square - a fountain or lights.
"The number of architectural relics in this place makes it impossible to lay the foundations of this building in solutions usually used in practice," Katarzyna Parysek-Kasprzyk from the Office of Project Coordination and City Revitalization, noted.
According to the investment schedule, the reconstruction of the square is to be completed next spring.
