A large residential project is planned on the former FSO car factory site in Warsaw’s Żerań district. The factory closed in 2011, leaving a vast industrial area that developers now want to transform into a new urban district. The project, called FSO Park, will cover about 62 hectares and could eventually house 17,000 to 19,000 residents and create around 10,000 jobs. The plan envisions a “15 minute city” with housing, services, green spaces and public transport instead of industry. The first construction stage, including about 2,000 apartments, may start around 2027 or 2028, with initial results visible by 2030. The developer will also build a school, park and commercial spaces.

The full transformation could take decades, with the entire project expected to be completed by about 2050.
