In 2021, more road investments will begin and complete than in 2020. In addition to the continuation of 100 road construction tasks – with a total length of 1,200 kilometers, for which PLN 15 billion is secured in the national budget – new construction projects worth over PLN 20 billion will begin. It will be 350 kilometers of entirely new road sections and 330 kilometers of roads undergoing reconstruction. In almost three years, drivers will be able to drive on new roads that will be created during this year's tenders. What sections will the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) focus on?

“GDDKiA focuses primarily on the S19 route, running along the eastern border of the country – where tenders for up to 100 kilometers have been announced. Approximately 50 kilometers long, the S10 Bydgoszcz-Toruń road and the S17 road – connecting Warsaw with Lublin will be built. GDDKiA also announces that it will prepare full documentation this year for the important extension of the A2 motorway between Łódź and Warsaw,” Adrian Furgalski, president of the TOR Economic Advisors Team, told eNewsroom.

“In 2020, only 138 km of motorways were commissioned, but this year is expected to end better. 385 kilometers of new expressways are planned. One of the most important will be the tunnel of the southern bypass of Warsaw. Construction services are to pick it up in the second quarter of this year. 40 kilometers of the A1 motorway, several key ring roads, and more kilometers of the S70 road north of Warsaw will also be completed. We will also travel along the new S3 section – along the western border of Poland, along the S19 section between Rzeszów and Lublin, and along the S61 road – i.e. Via Baltica, towards Masuria and the border crossing. This road will certainly facilitate and improve the smoothness of journeys, due to the heavy traffic of heavy cars in this direction,” Furgalski analyzed.
