The average price of a shopping basket containing 40 everyday FMCG items rose to PLN 339.16 in January, up PLN 8.94 month on month (2.71%) and PLN 27 year on year, according to ASM SFA. Prices increased in nine of the 13 retail chains analyzed, and for the first time in months no chain offered a basket below PLN 300.

Auchan was the cheapest, while Netto was the most expensive. The biggest price increases were seen in Netto and Selgros, while Makro recorded the largest drop. Year on year, the basket rose 8.6%, significantly above official CPI, indicating continued cost pressures in retail and notable price differences between store formats.
