BGK opens funding window for defense technology
Poland's state development bank BGK opened applications on Thursday for a PLN 400 million financing program supporting products with both civilian and military uses. The scheme is aimed at micro, small and medium-sized enterprises planning to launch or expand manufacturing capacity. Known as dual-use technology, eligible products may serve commercial customers as well as the defense sector. The initiative forms part of the European Funds for a Modern Economy program for 2021 to 2027, bringing support to companies that struggle to finance specialized production.
Rather than offering a grant alone, the instrument combines investment loans issued by commercial banks with a nonrepayable bonus from BGK that covers part of the loan principal. This structure is intended to encourage businesses to invest in equipment, processes and production capabilities while sharing the financial burden. The application window runs until January 28, 2027.
