KNF: BGK could act as leading institution in defence

At the European Financial Congress in Sopot, Jacek Jastrzębski, head of Poland’s Financial Supervision Authority (KNF), stated that Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) could serve as a leading European institution in defense financing. He supported initiatives like ReArm Europe and the idea of a European Defense Bank, noting that Poland already has relevant experience—BGK operates a national defense support fund.
He suggested BGK could take a leading role at the EU level. Additionally, BGK proposed creating a defense fund for NATO's eastern flank, managed by development banks such as itself. The bank hopes to act as the fund’s operator, aiming to accelerate the disbursement of funds for regional security efforts.
