Biomedical company, started in Krakow, now heading for Nasdaq
Rezera, formerly NodThera, is preparing for a Nasdaq listing with an oral NLRP3 inhibitor entering Phase III trials for atherosclerosis. The drug originated in a small research project at Kraków-based Ryvu Therapeutics, then called Selvita. Ryvu contributed about PLN 1.3 mln in grant and company funding, then spun off the project, receiving £500,000 upfront, research payments and shares. Cash payments totaled about PLN 8.5 mln, while its initial 49% stake has since been diluted to around 1.2%.
Rezera raised roughly $200 mln from external investors, funding development Ryvu could not afford or conduct itself. Ryvu’s founder says the spin-off secured value from the discovery and gave the company another route to commercialize research.
