Sosnowiec seeking investment worth over PLN 2 billion
Ryanair plans to announce the first of two European engine overhaul centers by the end of 2026, with the second location selected in early 2027. Sosnowiec is competing with Seville and Belfast for the projects. Polish officials estimate the Sosnowiec project at EUR 500 mln, or over PLN 2 bln, including operating costs, with around 600 eventual jobs. It has secured tax relief approval, while planned government aid exceeds PLN 126 mln. Meanwhile, Ryanair’s Wrocław maintenance base is adding a third hangar costing over PLN 120 mln.
Scheduled for completion in spring 2027, it will increase maintenance bays from four to seven. Further hangars are planned, without a timeline.
