Border guards seize illegal cigarettes worth over PLN 2 mln
A stockpile of 3 million cigarettes of various brands worth more than PLN 2 million have been seized by officers from the National Border Guards. The cigarettes did not have the correct Polish excise marks. One person has been detained.
The contraband was exposed last Sunday in Jelenia Góra. Border guards stopped two cars and found illegal cigarettes. They then went to the address of one of the drivers, where another batch of illegal goods was found in the garage.
Trading in illegal goods could result in a considerable fine and up to three years in prison.
