Carrefour considering selling 800 stores and shopping centers in Poland

French retailer Carrefour is exploring a possible exit from Poland, considering the sale of around 800 stores and 40 shopping centers. Investment bank JP Morgan is leading the process and has opened a data room for potential buyers, which reportedly include Biedronka owner Jeronimo Martins, Dino, Kaufland, and investment funds. Scenarios under review range from a full sale of all operations to a division of assets by format among different players. Regulatory hurdles make a full acquisition by market leader Biedronka unlikely.
Dino and Kaufland are seen as possible buyers, while funds may target real estate assets. The move aligns with Carrefour’s global strategy to streamline operations, following similar divestments in Italy, Argentina, and the Middle East.
