CEO of PZU: during economic downturn, financial institutions are open to fintech

During the European Financial Congress in Sopot, Jarosław Mastalerz, the CEO of PZU Życie, stated that in times of economic downturn, financial institutions may be more open to collaboration with fintech companies. Mastalerz mentioned that challenging economic circumstances could prompt large financial firms to seek new revenue sources and reduce costs, making collaboration with fintechs a potential solution. He emphasized that this doesn't mean fintechs will challenge established institutions directly.
Mastalerz highlighted the medical insurance sector as having significant growth potential, with a 125 billion PLN insurance gap in Poland. PZU Group, the largest financial institution in Central and Eastern Europe, has been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2010 and is part of the WIG20 index.
