China on Thursday criticized the decision of the US government to blacklist telecom giant Huawei. "China will take all necessary measures to firmly defend the rights of Chinese companies," the spokesman at China trade ministry Gao Feng said. He added that the US should avoid further damaging of trade relations with China.

The US said on Wednesday that it put Huawei Technologies and 70 related companies at the so-called blacklist of entities that must obtain government approval in Washington to buy US components and technology.

Huawei said in a statement that losing access to U.S. suppliers "will do significant economic harm to the American companies" and affect "tens of thousands of American jobs."
