Famous Ciechocinek brine graduation towers are undergoing a major renovation. This time it includes two of the three wooden structures covered with blackthorn, from which aromatic brine evaporates, beneficial in the prevention and treatment of, above all, upper respiratory tract diseases. But visitors to Ciechocinek can be relaxed – the most important of them, the one located at the famous main promenade, will not be occupied by the renovation teams until the end of September.

 “We could not afford any other solution. The season in Ciechocinek has its rights, after all, our guests are the most important. As a region, we focus on spa tourism and everything that serves it,” Piotr Całbecki, the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, emphasized.

Therefore, the first stage of the renovation concerns the graduation tower complex no. 3 located deeper in the complex and the building with the brine pumping system located nearby.

Graduation towers – initially devices for the industrial exploitation of underground salt deposits, but quickly transformed into places for natural inhalations on the basis of physical medicine fashionable in the 19th century - can be found in many towns in Europe, mainly in Germany. However, those in Ciechocinek are unique - they are the largest complex of this type on the Old Continent. The first two were built in the years 1824-1828 according to the design of Jakub Graff, professor at the Mining Academy in Kielce, on the initiative of Stanisław Staszic, who was one of the creators of the concept of industrial use of the salt deposits lying near Ciechocinek.
