Work is underway on the development of a 7-ha insulation green belt at the chemical plant in Oświęcim. A park will be built here until the end of May 2021, as spokeswoman Katarzyna Kwiecień from Oświęcim magistrate said.
“The developed area will be called the Peace Park. The construction site has already been handed over to the contractor. The geodetic works will be started in the next day, marking out future paths,” Kwecień added.
The park will be built by a company from Jarosław. In the tender, it proposed the most favorable price out of nine submitted bids. It will receive PLN 6.8 million. The contract concerns the implementation of the first stage of creating the Park. It includes the construction of two playgrounds, a pond, walking, and cycling paths, as well as the installation of benches and lighting. The existing hill will be prepared for small tobogganers.
Oświęcim was willing to spend slightly over PLN 7.4 million on the entire investment, of which PLN 5.8 million comes from EU funds.
