Dudziarska housing estate in Warsaw to be demolished
Warsaw’s Praga-Południe district has selected Tree Capital to demolish the abandoned Dudziarska housing estate for about PLN 1.5 mln, although the tender remains unresolved following an appeal by another bidder. The estate consists of three buildings containing 216 sealed apartments. Built in the early 1990s for municipal tenants and people evicted from other districts, it became socially isolated because of poor transportation and limited access to shops, schools, and health care.
The buildings have stood empty since 2019 and have attracted increasing police interventions involving vandalism, unsafe structures, trespassing, homelessness, and public disturbances. Previous proposals to reuse them for military purposes, film production, or special-forces training failed. The cleared site is expected to be leased for a new community-oriented use.
