EC hits telecoms one more time
The European Commission has introduced a cap on international phone calls prices within the EU. The price control will apply to all 28 members from May 15 and is also expected to be rolled out in Iceland, Norway and Lichtenstein soon. Intra-EU calls will be capped at 19 eurocents per minute, and SMS at 6 eurocents per message (not including VAT). The move is part of an EU-wide overhaul of telecoms rules; In 2017, the EU abolished roaming fees for European mobile users.
