Empik rules in music, books and multimedia segment

Bookstore chain Empik is the undisputed leader of the music, books, and multimedia segment in Poland. As many as half of the respondents have recently bought there the products in this category. In the second position is the Allegro platform, where every fifth respondent buys. According to the Omnichannel 2019 report prepared by YourCX, 21 percent buys in other stores and 20 percent did not buy or did not remember buying such products. Świat Książki and Media Markt are winning 9% and 8% market shares, respectively.
Empik has a difficult to challenge position in the traditional channel – as much as 65 percent of respondents who bought books and multimedia offline did so in this network store. 15% bought at Media Markt. Just behind the leader in the online channel, Empik, is Allegro with a 37% share. Empik is definitely more frequently visited by women (52 percent) than men (40 percent). Young people are the least likely to buy books, music, and multimedia among all ages (as many as 30% of those under 18 do not). In the countryside and in smaller towns, every fourth respondent declares that he has not recently bought these products.
