EU buys masks and coveralls, but Poland will not benefit

Masks, gloves, goggles, face shields and coveralls will soon reach EU countries. The EC announced that it had received offers in the EU tender for protective equipment it was organizing. Poland will not be able to use it because it joined the purchasing mechanism too late.
“Poland did not participate in this particular tender," European Commission spokesman Stefan de Keersmaecker said.
Poland joined the EU joint procurement mechanism, under which Member States buy, among others, medical supplies at the beginning of March. The mentioned tender was launched earlier, at the end of February.
In total, 25 EU countries took part in the purchasing procedure.
“Manufacturers have submitted offers covering, and in some cases even exceeding, the quantities required by the participating Member States," the EC said.
