EU funds triggered investment boom in Eastern Poland

In recent years, nearly PLN 2.3 billion from the European Regional Development Fund went to the development of road infrastructure in Poland's eastern voivodeships – this is the balance of all editions of the road infrastructure competition under the Operational Programme Eastern Poland.
"People who have not visited the region for 10 years will not be able to get to know it," Maciej Berliński of the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, which implemented the program, said.
Thanks to funds from this competition, Białystok has completed three major investments, including a section of the city's ring road and an exit road towards Warsaw.
"There would be no such investments if it were not for EU support because the city could not afford such a great financial effort," president Tadeusz Truskolaski said.
