EU leaders delay euro zone budget deal
Leaders of 27 EU countries gathered for a summit in Brussels to agree, among others, on a budget for the euro countries. The European Commission has proposed relatively small budget for 2021-2027: €25 billion for the entire EU.
The ministers were to work out possible additional sources of income for the eurozone budget, such as financial transaction tax or digital tax, but no agreement has been reached. The leaders also failed to agreeon a European deposit guarantee scheme for banks in the euro area (EDIS).
