EU to take harder line in its relations with Russia

Spain’s Foreign Minister Josep Borrell, the future head of foreign affairs of the European Union, has announced that during his term in office he will focus on the Balkans and the Eastern neighbors of the EU. He has also called on the EU to strongly support sanctions against Russia. In his opinion, the best way to solve the problem of Russian ‘expansionism’ is to support countries such as Ukraine on their path to democracy and prosperity.
“Until Russia changes its attitude towards Crimea and territorial violations, these sanctions must remain,” he said.
