Shortly after EU Commissioner Thierry Breton spoke to the new Twitter boss about compliance with EU regulations, the same topic was raised by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The conversation revolved around the platform's preparation for the Digital Services Act, which is coming into force and places some additional obligations on digital giants.
"Twitter will have to implement transparent user policies, significantly strengthen content moderation and address disinformation. We look forward to making progress in all these areas," Breton listed.
As the Financial Times reported, Breton told Musk that Twitter must abandon its "arbitrary" approach to reinstating deleted accounts. He also warned him that his company's operation could be banned in the EU if it did not comply with the new rules for online platforms.
