Europe’s largest service center for Apache helicopters will be built in Poland
Poland will establish Europe’s largest authorized service center for AH-64E Apache helicopters at Military Aviation Works No. 1 (WZL-1) in Łódź under offset agreements signed with Boeing. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the project would double employment at WZL-1, creating high-skilled jobs in advanced technologies.
The center is linked to Poland’s 2024 purchase of 96 Apache helicopters in a contract worth about $10 billion, the country’s largest single foreign defense order. Poland’s Apache fleet will also be the largest outside the United States.
Government officials said the offset agreements will help transfer technology, strengthen Poland’s defense industry and improve military readiness. The Łódź facility is expected initially to serve Poland’s fleet and later potentially support Apache helicopters purchased by other European countries, reinforcing Poland’s ambition to become a regional hub for US defense companies.
