Germans interested in purchase of Polish anti-aircraft weapons
Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk confirmed that Germany has expressed preliminary interest in purchasing Poland’s Piorun man portable air defense systems. He emphasized that Berlin’s interest highlights the growing reputation and competitiveness of Poland’s domestic defense industry and its technological innovation on the international stage.
The Piorun system, produced in Poland, is designed to target low flying aircraft, including planes, helicopters and drones. It is already used by several countries, including Norway, Latvia and Ukraine. Tomczyk noted that while Germany’s interest is a positive signal, the potential deal still requires further formal arrangements before it can be finalized.
