From Wednesday, July 8, 2020, the best press photos from this year's Grand Press Photo competition will be on display at Blue City.
Grand Press Photo is the largest nationwide press photography competition in Poland, organized by the "Press" magazine and the Grand Press Foundation. This year's 16th edition of the competition received 5,273 works, of which 42 single photos and 15 photojournalism qualified for the finals – these works will be on display at the exhibition.
The main prize for Photo of the Year was won by Jacek Szydłowski ("Dziennik Wschodni") –the photograph shows a nurse from the Independent Public Clinical Hospital No. 4 in Lublin on duty in a special tent for segregating patients during the coronavirus pandemic.
In addition, the exhibition will include four award-winning materials from the Documentary Design category, as well as nominated and awarded works in a special category for photographers under 26 –Young Poland. For the sixth time the Photo Book competition for the photographic book of the year was held as part of Grand Press Photo. Publications that were published on the Polish market in 2019 were assessed. The Photo Book of The Year 2019 award was presented in this category.
